Is Christmas That Close?

I was in shock yesterday when I realized Christmas is only about two and a half weeks off! Where have I been, you say? Obviously, not in touch with reality!

Let's cut to the heart of it! I'm getting older and Christmases are coming faster each year. I once laughed at my Aunt Mamie, who rolled her fully decorated Christmas tree out of the guest room closet the day after every Thanksgiving. She told me when you get older, there's hardly time to take the tree down before it was time to put it back up! So, she solved the problem with rollers on the tree. After Christmas, she'd just throw a sheet over it, and roll it back in the closet.

I thought this was the funniest thing I ever heard of. . . .Doesn't sound so crazy anymore. . . .

I couldn't believe it yesterday morning, when I looked at the calendar and realized Christmas is only about two and a half weeks off. . . .Where did the time go?. . . .This happens to me every year--seems like time speeds up once Thanksgiving is over. . . .

So, I got in high gear--sent Santa Honey for some greenery, while I scoured the farmhouse for decorating possibilities. . . .This year, it's only Santa Honey and me here for Christmas. . . . I want a Plain & Simple Christmas--Plainer and Simpler than usual. . . .Good thing, since I have so little time.

The keeping room will be my focus. . . .I've already started--and what a mess I have!
Rover's trying his best to help. . . .

So, this post is short and sweet. . . .No time to waste. . . .
Christmas is almost here!

from my farmhouse to yours. . . .

Hi Dru,
I can completely relate. This year time has really flew by.
I am no where near done with my shopping. Infact I just got started a couple of days ago.
Luckily, I am done with the decorating. I admit, a tree with rollers sound like a wonderful idea. If I had a way, I would surely do it! One less thing to have to fool with next year. :)
Cant wait to see your photos. Have fun decorating.
Hugs,
Tam

Very smart to keep the post short...I wish I could budget my time better! The story about your grandmother is hysterical, but a great idea! At times like these I wish I had an artificial tree. And a personal elf.

Happy Weekend!

XO,
Jane

I just realized the same thing yesterday. I haven't sent a card yet and am not finished shopping. I like the pressure of last minute! Ha!! Your dog is cute. ;)

Maybe we'll need to hold each other accountable next year. It will be here before you know it. LOL! Your decor may be simple, but you always have the right touch.

Love the story of your Aunt's tree on rollers - it does have possibilities!! Why is that the days are flying faster as I get closer to 69 years...
Love your images - and yes, simple is often the best way.

I will be telling the story of your Auntie this year...you put a very BIG smile on my face today. I will be "simply" decorating all the way to Christmas day and then, it's time to take it down! I'm a putzer...always putzing!

Christmas sure is getting here faster than it use to...and I'm not ready!! Just today, I was still putting out some decorations. Think I'm finally done with that, but I still need to do all my shopping.

I love the story of your Aunt Mamie rolling her tree in and out of the closet! I would love to be able to do that.
I'm looking forward to your Christmas decorating.

what a great idea, I'm almost that bad, my tree goes to the garage stored in a large plastic bag, I hadn't thought of just keeping the ornaments ON the tree though. the older I get the more time I want to save!!
