"We can create a welcoming space for the new blessings
by letting go of (a few) old things."
OH MY. . .Another box of blue transferware. .and pink. .and green. .and black. .and brown. . .but mostly blue. . My favorite. . .Where did THAT come from? . .It suddenly appeared in our garage. . .Might be because I moved many other boxes out? . .OH MY (again). . .My one weakness (chuckle) is blue transferware. . .Whether dressed up or dressed down, I love it. . .I had to sit down and rethink my simplifying plan. . .as I diligently worked to get the house back into some kind of organization.
THIS WEEK AT THE COUNTRY FARM HOME
If you walked into our house today, you might be convinced we had just moved in. . .What a mess I've made for myself. . .With the living room floor completed, I began clearing off the kitchen counters and tables and sorting the 'keepers' from the 'non-keepers'. . .giving all a good sudsy bath before they landed at their final destination. . .It might not have looked like it, but I did have a plan. . .
1. DOWNSIZE
TRANSFERWARE AND MISCELLANEOUS COTTAGE DISHES are always a good choice for a farmhouse. . .Alas. . .I must give up some of the now vast collection. . .maybe not a lot of the blue (grin) but definitely some of the other colors. . .maybe give YOU a chance to purchase a few. . .What do you think? . . .They need a GOOD NEW FARMHOUSE HOME. . .
The kitchen cupboards didn't escape the clean-out. . .The collection of white dinnerware was overflowing. . .These are our everyday mismatched stacks of bowls, platters, pitchers AFTER purging (grin). . .The rest to the sale pile. . .Some are ironstone. . .some are simply white. . .Did I tell you I'm planning to contract out an estate sale this year? . .White dinnerware will be included. . .My collection has gotten out-of--hand. . .It grew and grew without me knowing it. . .A platter for 50c here. . .A plate for 25c there. . .No JUNKER can pass by those bargains, can they?
2. GATHER
As I divided and conquered the kitchen collections, I also began gathering together possibilities for the living room make-over. . .and that included vintage tablecloths, cotton sacking, and linens. . .more about how I'll use them later. . .I'm working on a plan. . .
3. REMEMBER TO PLAY
Overseeing all this activity was my Boo. . .Each time the ladder moved, he moved with it. . .If Boo is anything, he's the King of Play. . .His constant antics remind me always to take this change in my life with a light heart. . .Pets are such amazing creatures. . .
THREE GOALS. . .ONE WEEK. . .The house remains in chaos. . .but I'm smiling. . .and feeling lighter with each box as it goes out the door.
Everyone have a fun weekend !!!!
I'll be back next week.
Til then. . . I'll be continuing on with the plan. . .

Oh wow! It must be difficult to part with all those goodies. I love the blue and white transfer ware. I have Flow Blue dishes that are over 100 years old and I rarely use them but I won't give them up. Isn't it crazy how fast we collect stuff?? I can't wait to see your re-decorating in the kitchen and living room. Have fun!
Hey...Sis! Don't work too hard. It's difficult to part with some treasures, isn't it? What to keep and what to part with?!? Kit Kat and I want to come play with Boo.
Farmhouse hugs,
Cindy
I just don't stop at sales anymore. I continually have to purge, so what's the point. There's no more room here!

You have such wonderful collections! I think I could part with them.cc

Oh my! I think you have some very hard choices to make! The blue transferware has my heart! I found my Mother-in-loves old set wrapped in newspaper n the wash house. I wish I knew it's whole story.
Beautiful collections you have!
Donna from Funky Junk Interiors started with the Heap of Change Challenge in January, and it went for a month. I started on my studio. I'm still working at it! It was time to get rid of all of the things we weren't using. My shelves are becoming clearer. So, craft supplies for me, and dishes for you! The quote at the top of your entry is the idea I've been working with. Best wishes to you!
I've been working on decluttering. I have way too much stuff, but it has been hard to figure out what to keep and what to get rid of.

Love the blue transferware plates. Will you be selling? And shipping? Thanks.
Hey Dru,
First it was the cookbook, now I see my Mom's old blue and white pitcher in your blue and white page upper right hand corner............I remember that pitcher so well as I was entranced with the pagoda, and wanted to live in that tiny little blue house! Mom always used it at Easter for cream for the coffee (we have a lot of coffee drinkers in the family!).
Such wonderful thoughts, if you ever decide to sell let me know, please.

You're very brave; I don't think I could give up my goodies so easily, lol!
I have the predicament. I keep seeing the vintage pieces I love at thrift stores for pennies and can't pass them up. I'm conflicted between keeping all these beauties and simplifying housekeeping to leave me more time to enjoy them. Some of it has to go. Right now, I'm working on the craft room and it is taking forever!
Oh my yes, isn't that always how it goes, things have to get messy and crazy before they can go back to peaceful order. Keep up the good work! The end is in sight!
Your transferware is so pretty, but if it is one thing we don't need is more dishes! Lol! How come they are so easy to collect??
Boo is adorable!
