I just bought my seventh thrifty cloche--at a yard sale--for 50 cents.
I came home, cleaned it up, placed it on a crystal plate, and voila!
An expensive-looking piece. . . .
Isn't it pretty? My secret?
You've probably guessed by now. . . .
Those vintage cheese keepers no one wants!!!!!
They turn up all the time in thrift stores and yard sales. . . .
in all sizes and shapes. . . .
Just discard the wooden base and replace it with a cake stand,
a glass plate, or nothing at all. . . .
I've had people ask where I've bought so many "beautiful" cloches. . . .
I giggle every time they do. . . .
Thought it was time to share my little secret. . . .

Ohhhhhh so cute. Love this. I do see the old cheese domes everywhere. What a clever idea. So pretty. It is so neat to remake something old into a new and unique piece. Beautiful. Love it.

I've done this trick, too! Yours looks fantastic!

Hmmm... so that's the trick. Now I will have my eyes peeled. New to the thrifting side of things. Lots to learn.
Your cloches are luvly.
Cheers, Gee
Yours look wonderful! So pretty.
So pretty and what a great idea!! I have 2 choches...one large and one small, but I will be checking the thrift shops for cheese keepers from now on. We have a local craft supply store that carries just the glass choches. Now I will be on the lookout for pretty glass plates to go with them.
Thanks for sharing your little secret!!
hugs,
Cindy
Those are so pretty!
I see those all the time at the thrift store...funny, the thought never occurred to me to exchange the wooden cheese board for a pretty plate...
~now, I'm going to look for them, and won't see them! Pat
They do make great little cloches, especially for 50 cents!

I love cloches and do the same thing that you do! I just found a few more tucked away in boxes for my space and need to get them filled and looking pretty for the displaying I am trying to do at the store!
I LOVE your birdhouse in the next post and am pinning a photo for reference if that is ok! This is a fantastic idea!!!!! I come across ammo boxes here and there and this is such a perfect way to make something fantastic out of an ugly box!! Love the porch light at roof line!
I need to apologize for note coming over sooner. You had left me the sweetest note at my blog weeks ago and I just found it in my comment moderation file- thank you for your sweet visit!

Yup, I never pass up a cheese dome at a thrift store. I have a few. I really get excited when I run across a large cake one. Love your little treasures under glass!

How did I miss this post? I've passed up a few of those 'cloches' and have regretted it. Thanks for boot scootin' over to my Old Time Party!

Yep, I too was picking these up a few years back at the thrift stores for a little of nothing!! NOW, they have jumped up in price here a lot! I've seen them for as much as $6 ea. ??? They'll raise the price when they see a lot of something being bought! A GREAT DECOR item!! Roxie
