The Magers Pig Barn, inherited by daughter Mamie Magers Griffin |
On the same farm where the Magers hay barn sat--Granddaddy Built A Hay Barn--there was another barn, also built ca. 1930--much smaller--but in the same style. It was the barn Granddaddy built for his pigs.
Yes, pigs.
The four story hay barn held cattle--this small three story replica housed pigs.
Now didn't they live "high on the hog?"
. . . Pun intended. . .

Love your barn photos and their wonderful history!
what lucky piggies! is this one still standing?
I visited many of my families farms, but never lived on one. I so could have though!!! Love barns, more for the memory of swinging from one hay stack to the next.
We have an abandoned property here in town with an old barn...though it needs "barn red" paint. We walk by daily hoping a for sale goes up soon. It needs a lot of work, but we are looking for our retirement home anyway.

Love old barns, I'm sure those little piggies are quite happy there!
Thanks for visiting and leaving such a sweet comment!

That's a beautiful old barn. Grandpa's pigs had a small, low roofed abode. Nothing as glamorous as this barn.
That's a pretty nice barn for those little piggies.
we had a 'pig barn' on the farm where i grew up. by the time i was old enough to remember, it was always used for heifers. :)
I wish I had that barn...it is a beauty.
I suppose it could be called the Pig Palace!
What a truly great looking barn. Glad you shared it. :-)

Great barn!
Granddaddy must have been a real character with a great sense of humor. Did his pigs have names as well as their own digs? :-)
