What? Not Plain and Simple Farmhouse Style?. . .Not today my friends. . .Today there's a spotlight on Debi Rosin's REAL SIMPLE STYLE. . .but I think you'll see an awful lot of similarities. . .
It was a chilly, gray day Sunday afternoon. . . I needed something to cheer me--some small effort of change that wouldn't be an all day affair--but something big enough that it brought smiles. . .The first thing I did was clear out most of the Winter decor. . .Our Spring is getting close. . .I hope. . .Then I stood back and looked at the empty spaces, thinking to myself that I needed inspiration. . .hopped onto the internet and checked out Debi's blog REAL SIMPLE STYLE. . .It's often my go-to place. . .Our styles are so similar. . .She says she borrows ideas from my blog. . .What she doesn't know until now is that I do the same with hers. . .
Her home is so lovely. . .It's simple. . .uncluttered. . .farmhouse. . .You'd never guess that she lives in Montana and not right here on our Delta farm. . .
Have you spotted my inspiration piece, yet? . .As I scrolled through the posts, my eyes spied the aprons hanging from pegs on Debi's back porch. . .
Made my heart flutter. . .A good place to start, I thought. . .I couldn't match her display exactly. . .so they are not 'two peas in a pod'. . .but very close, don't you think?
LEARN FROM OTHERS, YET MAKE IT YOUR OWN. . .that's the real secret to decorating in any style. . .
I was interested in getting to know Debi a little more and how her REAL SIMPLE STYLE came about. . .Here's a little of what she said:
"We live in my husband's grandparents 1930's bungalow. I have done all the remodel and refreshing projects myself. I have power tools that would make most men jealous. My most recent was the bathroom. (It is explained in a blog post. . .) I'm a lover of all things vintage. I like you and many decorators. . .am constantly changing, rearranging, painting and fluffing."
Debi has seven grandchildren who live close by. . .three dogs--all senior citizens--a Rottweiler and two pugs. . .She spends a lot of time in her yard tending to flower beds when the Montana weather allows. . . Whee. . .Where does she find the time to decorate?
If you hop over to REAL SIMPLE STYLE to see more of her amazing decorating inspiration, be sure and click on the links from earlier years. . .She began with almost a blank slate and documents the ever evolving farmhouse style in her home. . .Thanks so much, Debi, for permission to use your photos. . .Whether we call our styles PLAIN AND SIMPLE FARMHOUSE or REAL SIMPLE, we sure seem to be cut from the same fabric. . .Thanks to your inspiration, seeing the aprons hanging in my kitchen makes me smile. . .

Wow very clean simple and pretty! I love the idea of using old pot lids on the stove.
Blessings,

Very lovely! I love both blogs :-)
Blessings...

Awwww shucks Dru. . . I feel so honored to be a guest for your blog. Decorating really is a passion of mine, and I am so thrilled to hear you get inspiration from my photos. But it's also nice to get recognition from a sweet darling like you.
PS. . . my aprons are in my porch, not my kitchen. The cupboard that may have made you think it was my kitchen is actually a cover for my A/C unit. . . I only wish my kitchen was big enough to hang aprons. . . there's barely room to hang a hankie. . .{{{sigh}}}
Thanks again Dru. . . and to all the newcomers. . . I hope more people can be inspired.
Hugs ~d
Your styles are so similar! Sometimes I couldn't tell which I was looking at! I will have to stop over and take a peek at Real Simple.
Love your aprons hanging and the old photo above it! A perfect pick me up project. I have been thinking I need a place to hang aprons in my kitchen also. Something so homey about a simple place to hang towels and aprons.....
Great job by both of you! I will stop by her place too. So nice you found each other!
I love your style and that of Debi's too. I was just thinking about hanging some spring coloured aprons on some pegs on a shelf between the kitchen and dining room. I need some colour with all the white outside that I have to look at. :) Have a great week!
I love this style...so cozy, like step back in time. I love using the enamelware lids for burner covers...I have some! Like you said, Learn from other but make it your own! Great post :)
I've never seen her blog, love all the farmhouse decor. I especially love vintage towels and aprons hanging from hooks and her pretty blue bedroom quilt. Your decorating styles are very similar, so lovely!
When I first saw the title of your post, I immediately thought of Debi and questioned what you were up to (grin). Your styles are similar and simply sweet.
Farmhouse hugs,
Cindy
Well, thanks to both of you for the inspiration! I am going to go home and gather a beautiful handmade peg board, old aprons and an antique whisk room that are various parts of my home and I know just where they are going in my kitchen! Thank you for sharing your homes.
Hi Dru. "Learn from others, yet make it your own." I love that and you did it very well. I can't wait to visit her. Thanks..Happy Wednesday..Judy
Hi Dru, I don't know Debi, but I love her style! And yes, it's very similar to yours. Love both yours and her apron racks! I agree that it fun to get inspired by others, but make it our own. Hoping over to say hi to her.
hugs,
Jann
Dru...I love your style and Debi's style. They do look very similar. I'm so trying to have a more simple feel to my decorating in my home. I've gotten rid of several things, but I'm still trying to figure out what to keep and what to get rid of.
