It's Another Year, Isn't It?

I made a confession over at Our Old Country Store this morning. . . .
We took off two weeks and vacationed in Virginia!
No work. . . .No computers. . . .No phones. . . .for the entire Christmas Holiday.
I bet several of you had guessed as much, hadn't you?
After all, I haven't spoken with you since last year. . . .lol

Such a fun and relaxing trip. . . .I have so much to show and tell you. . . .once I get my new Dell computer working properly. . . .Santa slipped it under the tree, and I do love it. . . .but as with all new tech devices, there's also a few bugs to work out. . . .For one, the Windows 8.1 won't recognize my digital camera. . . .so, I can't download all the wonderful photographs I took while away. . . .And, are any of you having problems with Blogger?. . .or is that a Windows 8.1 issue, too?

It's also true that it's hard to teach an old dog new tricks. . . .I'm the old dog. . . .not a tech person at all. . . .I understand paper and pencil much better than Windows 8.1. . . .hmmmm. . . .Maybe I need to go back to school? . . . .I understand they don't teach pencil and paper in school anymore. . . .mostly tech now. . . .

Well, whatever the case, I have my work cut out for me in the next few days. . . .There's also loads of emails to answer (sorry if I haven't gotten to yours, yet). . . .A new Smart Phone to set up (remember, I'm not much of a tech). . . .Orders to send off. . . .Lots of catch-up and to-do lists.

Was it worth it?
You bet!
We spent a full week at Colonial Williamsburg and then rambled around the back roads of the Shenandoah Valley, my ancestral roots. . . .We wined and dined, visited with friends,  and just relaxed. . . .Yes, it was worth it. . . .I have hundreds of photos and will be sharing a few with you later. . . .the ones I think you'd be the most interested in. . . .such as the 1930s farm kitchen at Bassett Hall. . . .winter gardening with bell jars and cold frames. . . .bee skeps for your bees--or decorating the farmhouse. . . . and a few other goodies. . . .
If you're interested in weaving, I've already posted a few photos from Colonial Williamsburg
at Our Old Country Store. . . .Follow the link here or below.

Just wanted to let you know I'm not lying in bed doing nothing during this time away. . . .sigh. . . .How I wish. . . .The next few days I'll be diligently working toward a quick course in Windows 8.1, recovering our photos, learning the Smart phone, answering emails. . . .oh!. . . .I have one more job on my list. . . .nursing John back to health. . . .He injured his leg on our trip and it is not healing correctly. . . .Nurse Dru is having a hard time keeping him off it. . . .but in the end, I will win out there, too!

Sure hope your New Year is going well!
I'll keep smiling if you will. . . .It makes people wonder what we're up to!

. . .from my farmhouse to yours. . .

Wow! Your header is positively gorgeous! Did you make it on Picmonkey? Good luck with Windows 8. I'm not that brave!

So glad to hear that you had a good time away. It is nice to unplug sometimes. That is what we did when we rented the cabin in the hills of Tennessee this past November.
hugs,
Cindy

How marvellous to spend a whole week at Williamsburg! I spent just three days there a few years ago and would love to see it again. Looking forward to seeing your photos. Love that first picture of the flat iron and the linen - hope it hadn't been heated:)

So happy that you had time to relax and enjoy. You will figure out the new gadgets in no time! Love your pictures. I will be happy to see what you post soon. I have been sick since before Christmas! a bug that turned pneumonia. but coming a long. Tell him to stay of his leg so you can be a good Dr! He must be getting fidgety. I can relate to that. Happy New Year friend. May 2014 be filled with lots of, blessings for you both.
