A Farmhouse Good Morning to You All. . .
There's a corner in my kitchen that I've overlooked for quite some time now.
Never seemed able to come up with a satisfying combination.
I sat a bowl and pitcher there for years.
Pretty but not that functional. . . .
Felt it needed more above on the vintage shelf.
I was hearing a few complaints here there about having
to walk "so far" to the dinner plates, stored in the pie safe--
only about eight feet away.
Not enough complaints to do anything about it,
til this morning as I unloaded the dish drainer
and was making several trips to that cabinet eight feet away. . .
It CAN wear you out a little. . .
On my last pass, I stopped in mid-track--at the corner cabinet-- and thought,
"Okay. . . .So I'll leave a few plates here."
Well, one thing led to another and I ended up with a little serving area--
closer to the kitchen and convenient.
Once I filled the corner cabinet top,
I knew what needed to go on the shelf above. . . .
finally. . . .
after all these years. . . .
It all came together quickly. . . .
I added my recent 50c pitcher find. . . .
and a 25c linen towel.
Such a beautiful crocheted border. . .
Now that corner is pretty and functional--
no more fussing about the eight foot walk either. . .
Just goes to show you that in any room,
a little tweaking can always be done. . .
Have a wonderful day!
Hope it's filled with sunshine!
. . .from my farmhouse to yours. . .

Be a sweetie,

Oh I love it and I am sure you will really enjoy it too. It looks fabulous, love the pitcher and the gorgeous little crocheted towel. Hugs, Marty
Tweaking is my favorite activity. That croched towell is a beautiful find!
Brilliant idea, and it looks just perfect:) Love all the white of the dishes.
Great idea Dru. The plates look good in the corner shelf with the lacey tea towel.
It is perfect and so functional and cute all at the same time. Don't you love when that happens!!!! Looks great.

My goal this year was out with the pretty and in with the functional but when you can combine the two you've struck gold!!...:))
I love it! It is fun to 'discover' new areas that have been overlooked for decorating or a more useful purpose such as this. I can't believe you got that lovely tea towel for 25 cents! I'd pay $5.00 here for something like that, which I think is pretty steep! Beautiful decorating Dru!
Hi Dru, it turned out so pretty and handy too. I love the stacks of white. Pretty pitcher that you got for a song and also the tea towel. Reminds me that I have plain tea towels and very similar crocheted edgings. Why couldn't I marry the two and have a pretty little towel almost like yours..I might just have to try it..Happy Monday..Judy
Pretty and so practical...What a functional yet attractive way to use and display your beautiful dishes.
Hello, sweet Dru! A visit to your country farmhome is such an enchanting experience...a trip back in time. My ggrandmother would feel right at home. Her name was Evaleena Benson Newman. As a little girl she traveled across the prairie in a covered wagon to the Oregon Territory.
I love your home and treasure your friendship!
Have a blest day!

And you tweak so well. Got my linky up so you can go join your recent tweak! Don't you love it when these ideas just come out of nowhere and they're perfect?

Everything looks beautiful.. I adore that chair you have on the wall.. 25 cents for that pitcher? What a steal!..And that crocheted border on the towel is just so pretty.. Everything just looks so perfect.. My kind of style..
Isn't it funny how something can stay the same and all of a sudden a solution occurs? I love the look of stacked dishes displayed, have admired them so often. I can't ever seem to pull that off, mine just look like I hadn't finished putting them away! You certainly have succeeded with this pretty area. Love the little girl too.
As I'm reading your post, I'm thinking...this would be adorable for Country Whites Weekend. LOL! Of course I'll be at the party! ;)
Farmhouse hugs,
Cindy
