Chicken In The Kitchen

Henrietta is safe in the kitchen for the winter. . .
She'll be warm and cozy, sitting in her new nesting box beside the fireplace. . . .
After all, it's not a farmhouse without a chicken, is it?

When I was growing up, I did not like chickens at all. . . .
They pecked at my feet,
And, flew at me. . . .
I swore I'd never raise chickens. . . .
But, lately, I've been thinking more and more about some real chicks next spring.

Til then, I'll just enjoy Henrietta. . . .

Chicken Nesting Box--Weathered wood construction

Thanks, Dear. . . .

I always thought raising chickens would be fun. But have never had a chance to try it....someday....

Lovely home for your chicken. Very cute. Looks like she'll be happy there for a good while.

Your hubby is a great guy to have around! Cute creation. I'm so addicted to weathered wood. Oh, and Henrietta is cute, too.

That is a wonderful nest box you have there! My poor son hate our chickens, too. Mainly the mean old Rooster, Kellogg! But Henrietta is the perfectly mannered hen! She is lovely!
Blessings,
Susie

Those chickens will nest just about anywhere! We have a hen AND her rooster friend nesting on top of our kitchen cabinets!

I'm with you about chickens. I got tired of being chased and harassed by chicken and ducks as a little girl at my Grandmothers. But, I just told my husband the other day that I sure wished I liked them because I love to see all those pretty different breeds. Anyway, a few in my kitchen is my style and your Henrietta is a beauty and so is your John. Love that nesting box..Happy Wednesday..Judy

Oh, I love the fact that your John made that nesting box. Absolutely perfect - Henrietta looks very content (and much less messy than any real, but fun, chickens). Ann

That's my kind of chicken!! I spent lots of time tending the chickens growing up and got pecked at and chased a lot, too. And, oh woe, a broody hen!!!

I plan to wear boots in the chicken coop in case one decides to give my legs a nip! I've been visiting my hen and her chicks everyday and so far the broody hen has not been mean at all.

Your "indoor" nesting box is adorable. I love weathered wood too! Thanks for following me, I'm following back and hope to get to know you more!

I think I'd enjoy this quiet, still kind of chicken best too. Thanks for coming by and giving me your thoughts on the cart I found. Decisions, decisions!
