Country Whites Weekend #1--A Farmhouse White Christmas

Happy Holidays, Everyone!
and
Welcome to Country Whites Weekend!
It’s plain and simple and oh, so sweet.
Embrace your country whites and share them here!
Inspire us. Take us home. Fill us with country charm. . . .

Looks like many of you have SNOW for inspiration!!!
How perfect for our first Country Whites Weekend. . . .

It's certainly feeling like a White Christmas here in the South--even though there's no white stuff falling. . . .This morning Santa Honey has the fireplace blazing, there's cookies baking in the oven, Christmas music is playing in the background, and I'm turning our home into a Farmhouse White Christmas--Inside. . . .So much more fun than being out in the cold. . . .

And, cold it is out there. . . .the winds are howling. . . .makes me shiver just to hear it. . . .Jack Frost is certainly nipping at the nose today. . . .

Thank goodness, it's warm and comfy by the fire. . . .Right, Boo?

I wanted to do something special for our first Country Whites Weekend. . . .
but, I'm much more excited about seeing your posts and being inspired by each of you. . . .so, I'll just share a little about how--slowly but surely--this Farmhouse White Christmas is coming together. . . .

Just like my farmhouse style, our Christmases are pretty plain and simple. . . .

Yet, always with a pop of color. . . .

I may have too much color here to qualify for Country Whites Weekend. . . .
but, hey--it's Christmas! Maybe Cindy will be forgiving. . . .That's my Dad in the overalls--so cute. . . .

Inspiration for the Christmas table came from the bundle of Rosemary that Santa Honey brought in this week. . . .Rosemary means "Remembrance". . . .I think Santa Honey had a different idea, as in Rosemary Chicken--but I put it to work by setting a remembrance table. . . .A farmhouse Christmas is a farmhouse full of family. . . .

Home--Hearth--Family--That's our Farmhouse White Christmas. . . .
plain and simple as can be. . . .

Now, let's get busy and have a party!
Cindy says we're having an adventure. . . .

And, we want you to join us!

As with anything, there's do's and don'ts. . . . .
but we tried to keep it simple. . . .

White Things & "What's Next" Revealed

Are we ready for a party?. . . .Country Whites Weekend begins Friday, December 21st--just two days from now. . . .Cindy and I will be up bright and early posting our linky party for you to join and enjoy. . . .Us country gals rise with the chickens, you know. . . .Not quite an early bird?. . . .Not to worry--the party will run all weekend long. . . .

Now--what to post and link? What indeed? I've been thinking about that myself. . . .Looking back through a few old photos gave me some ideas. . . .

 Mr. Smokey's baby picture. . . .

Enamelware pans at a flea market. . . .

A freshly made bed. . . .

A simple sampler. . . .

Vintage photos (close enough--there's white in them, right?). . . .

 A pet of a different kind. . . .

A basket of cotton. . . .

Mr. Rooster. . . .

A winter wonderland. . . .

All shades of white is the goal. . . .but, a touch of color here and there is certainly fine. . . .

Country Whites can mean so many different things--as individual as the people who join in. . . .We're anxious to see your ideas. . . .I'll be showing you our Christmas table--and a few other farmhouse Christmas touches--yep, I've changed things--again. . . .The opening photo is just a hint of what's to come. . . .I don't know what Cindy will be posting--she's keeping it a secret-- but you know it's gonna be something good. . . .

two places to show off anything white--
but, you'll only have to link up once!

Now that I have your attention, guess what our next big project at The Country Farm Home will be. . . .
You've seen our renovation of the keeping room. . . .now, we'll be taking you on a journey of the living room make-over--in Farmhouse Style--lots of whites, lots of neutrals. . . .

We've already started, which is why you've only seen our kitchen and keeping room during this holiday season. . . .Next Christmas we'll have the entire house decorated and full of goodies. . . .Hopefully, we'll finish the living room long before that. . .

It's a room that definitely needs a new look. . . .

Living Room--Before
It was a perfect for 1930s tours--the setting was appropriate. . . .Now, it's our personal quarters and my fingers are just itching to get out the old cotton bagging for cushion covers, white linens for the windows. . . .slipcovers for the dated furniture. . . .a new old couch. . . .and farmhouse white all around. . . .with a pop of color, of course. . . .

Living Room--Before
I'll be telling you more about everything after the first of the year. . . .for now, we're doing the basics--the boring stuff--patch, paint, clean, refinish. . . .You know how it goes. . . .Ya gotta do the dirty work before you can have fun. . . .

Of course, we want you to join us on our journey. . . .Won't it be fun?

Living Room--Before

But, first we have a big party Friday with Country Whites Weekend. . . .Then I have a very special post for you on Christmas Eve. . . .That's all I can tell you for now. . . .but, I think the whole family will enjoy it.

Happy Holidays. . . .See ya Friday!!!!

Easy Last Minute Christmas Gift Idea

This will be a quick post--just to share with you an idea for an easy, inexpensive last minute gift. . . .

Going green with your own shopping bag is catching on around here. . . .Just like most women, a friend of mine wanted her bags to stand out and be eye-catching. . . .I actually bought these from her at a local craft show. . . .
She knows I'm putting it on the blog and was happy to share. . . .

 I think they are cute as a button--or a yo-yo. . . .

The flower pot is ironed on with Wonder-Under. . . .The yo-yos are attached with hot glue. . . .The leaves are drawn with a white paint pen. . . .Both sides are crafted. . . .These are quite big and will hold many items. . . .

I'm filling mine with goodies to give to a couple of family members--bag and all. . . .

If you're like me, you may be scrambling for an extra gift or two. . . .Or, are you the smart ones and ready for the big day?. . . .Either way, this is a cute idea to keep in your craft files. . . .

Today I am also remembering those families
who lost precious loved ones last week. . . .
There are no words that can convey my deepest sympathies. . . .
My thoughts and prayers are with them--our country--
and all you who--like me--have been so deeply affected. . . .

from my farmhouse to yours. . . .

Santa Was Glamping

 "Glamping"--Putting Glamor into Camping

We found Santa yesterday, glamping at Old Timer's Antique Mall in Dexter, MO. Let me tell you, he was glamping in style. . . .

If you're familiar with Mary Jane's Farm magazine, website, or books, then you probably know what glamping is all about. . . .The word is one of Mary Jane's pet concepts--rugged and really pretty, grit and glamor--all at the same time.

There's a growing movement for glamping. Women everywhere are snatching up these older trailers and fixing them for their own fun experiences camping. There are clubs, too, traveling together across the country or meeting somewhere for a weekend of  glamping with friends.

I've read about them and have to be honest here--I've been looking for my own trailer to restore in farmhouse style and glamp around the country in. That's why I squealed in delight when I spotted this sweet, little trailer at Old Timer's. It belongs to the owner--but not for sale. . . .Shoot!. . .
She's looking for more trailers to repair and glamorize. Those WILL be for sale. . . .

On the other hand, I think it would be great fun to decorate my own. I have my eye on an Airstream. . . .but, that's another story. . . .

I could definitely enjoy a few outings in a trailer like this. . . .

Come on inside. . . .

The first thing you see is the table area that lets down into a bed. . . . I'm not a big cowboy fan for myself, but I have to admit, this was cute. . . .

Looks like Santa has a little "Cowboy" in him, though. . . .

and, Mrs. Clause, too. . . .

There were touches of a Glamping Christmas everywhere. . . .

Two bunks were in back--the lower was another sitting area. . . .with a Santa quilt, and. . . .

a snowman. . . .

Santa's trailer will be sitting at Old Timer's Antique Mall at least through the first of the year--and maybe all winter long. . . .Go by and visit if you're in the area. . . .It's open everyday. . . .

Me? I'm checking on that Airstream this week! A Plain and Simple Farmhouse style glamper. . . .Has a ring to it, don't you think?

In the words of Cowboy Santa. . . . .
Happy Holidays, Y'all !!!!
