Thrifty Cloches

I just bought my seventh thrifty cloche--at a yard sale--for 50 cents.

I came home, cleaned it up, placed it on a crystal plate, and voila!
An expensive-looking piece. . . .
Isn't it pretty?  My secret?

You've probably guessed by now. . . .
Those vintage cheese keepers no one wants!!!!!
They turn up all the time in thrift stores and yard sales. . . .
in all sizes and shapes. . . .

Just discard the wooden base and replace it with a cake stand,
a glass plate, or nothing at all. . . .

I've had people ask where I've bought so many "beautiful" cloches. . . .
I giggle every time they do. . . .

Thought it was time to share my little secret. . . .

  1. Ohhhhhh so cute. Love this. I do see the old cheese domes everywhere. What a clever idea. So pretty. It is so neat to remake something old into a new and unique piece. Beautiful. Love it.

  4. So pretty and what a great idea!! I have 2 choches...one large and one small, but I will be checking the thrift shops for cheese keepers from now on. We have a local craft supply store that carries just the glass choches. Now I will be on the lookout for pretty glass plates to go with them.
Thanks for sharing your little secret!!
    hugs,

I see those all the time at the thrift store...funny, the thought never occurred to me to exchange the wooden cheese board for a pretty plate...

  7. I love cloches and do the same thing that you do! I just found a few more tucked away in boxes for my space and need to get them filled and looking pretty for the displaying I am trying to do at the store!

I LOVE your birdhouse in the next post and am pinning a photo for reference if that is ok! This is a fantastic idea!!!!! I come across ammo boxes here and there and this is such a perfect way to make something fantastic out of an ugly box!! Love the porch light at roof line!

I need to apologize for note coming over sooner. You had left me the sweetest note at my blog weeks ago and I just found it in my comment moderation file- thank you for your sweet visit!

I am following you now as I don't want to miss any more of your great inspiration!!!
