Do you love aprons as much as I do?
I've lost count of how many I have in my collection.
Recently, I've been trying to gather them all together
and store them according to decades.

Well, I've found a delightful blog
that is all about vintage aprons--and more. . .
Apron History is a mix of antique finds, vintage cookbooks, recipes, sewing,
and, of course, APRONS. . . .
Heide describes herself as, ". . .a creative, vintage crazy girl. . . I like to do things like they did 'in the good ole days'; sewing aprons, knitting sweaters, using vintage egg beaters, cooking from my 1930s cookbook. . ."
I think Heide and I are kindred spirits. . .
She'd fit right in here at the farm. . .
It's been fun reading her entire blog, getting to know her and the wonderful women in her family that she often features. . .

How neat. Mama wore an apron every day of her life. Put here clothes on and then the apron. I don't wear them because I can't seem to find one that's comfortable. Sure would save some grease spots on the shirts, though.

ReplyDeleteYes, please do show us your collection. I'd love to see it. Heide also has some of those wonderfully colorful aluminum cups in her cupboard... visible in that one picture. My neighbor had those growing up and we loved those. Hate to get off topic, but can I help it if she left the cups where I could see them:) Many of those aprons just bring back such great memories of my childhood back when the older women in my life always seemed to have aprons like some of these on.

Aprons were such a part of my world when I was growing up. On Sundays we always had company and my mother would lay out a spread of several meats vegetables and desserts. She would start cooking on Saturday night. She always, always had on apron similar to these in your post.

Love vintage aprons! I got a big baf full of 200 at a flea market one time, lady was going out of business. I only paid $20 for them.

my grandmother ALWAYS wore an apron - never took it off, I swear! Well except for church!

I love vintage aprons I have a few from 1950's but seeing the ones you show make me want more. I am going to check out the other links you mention. Great post. B
ReplyDeleteLove all the pretty vintage aprons you shared today. My Mom, Grandmom and Great Grandma would never have thought to be in the kitchen without an apron! Sadly, I never wear one. My sister gave me a very pretty one for Christmas and I never remember to put it on. Happy VTT, Nan

I always cook with an apron -'when I cook- it happens that my husband does most of it. I love the vintage aprons and sort of covet yours (so wrong I know). Maybe I'll luck out and find one or my sewing room will get cleaned out and I'll sew on - currently is packed with all the boxes from Christmas and they need to be moved to their storage place!
