The White House

Just a little teaser for the Summer Farmhouse Kitchen. . . .A sneak peek. . . .

I may be going through my second childhood. . . .I have a tremendous desire to "play house". . . .

I never had a doll house growing up. . . .Don't remember ever asking for one. . . .Now, I can't pass one up. . . .Some loving Dad or Granddad crafted this "White House" for a special little lady. . . .I ran across it over 20 years ago for $5. . . .It became an addition to the living room--in a home that looked almost like the doll house itself. . . .

And, I furnished it the same as that house. . . .These are just a few of the pieces I was able to find this morning. . . .Somewhere I have many more. . . .

My nephews grew up playing with the White House. . . .I'm probably in trouble for telling that! . . . They played with my tea set, too. . . .(grin). . . .Maybe they won't read this post. . . .(grin). . . .

I haven't paid much attention to the White House for many years. . . .This morning when I was in my sewing room, my eyes caught a glimpse of it stored way in the back. . . .That's when it hit me. . . .the great desire to "play house". . . .

John helped bring it to the Summer Kitchen. . . .and there it will sit for the entire summer. . . .while I renovate and refurnish every room. . . .and will be as thrilled as a 6 year old. . . .

I remember as an adult, Mom asking Daddy if he thought I'd ever grow up? . . . .
"I sure hope not!" he'd say. . . .(grin). . . .

Who says we have to, anyway?

. . . from my farmhouse to yours. . .

How fun and I can't believe you paid $5 that is wonderful. I know you will have it looking so cute and farmhouseish.

My Daddy loves my playful side, too! Your blog inspires me so much! I have a doll house and furniture that I found for 5$ too. Maybe I'll do something with it!

Oh what a sweet treasure you have there. I love it and I'd play with a doll house like that if I had one too. I did have one as a little girl. It was a metal modern house with furniture and I wish I still had it today. Our daughter had a plastic Fisher Price doll house that has gone missing. She and her brother played for hours with it. Fun memories. Enjoy the weekend! Hugs, Pam

I had a metal doll house with plastic furniture. It did not have a cool sink like that! Love it!

I love doll houses! I'm a bit of a collector. I have at least 3. I love building or buying unfinished furniture for them and painting, staining, upholstering, etc. And building that little house.

Oh and I have a question for you my dear. I am trying to do some research on old time county fairs, etc. What people on farms and ranches used to do to beat the heat whether it be food, drink, games, pastimes, etc. (I can't find anything on the internet!!!) If you know of any information that would be of use to me I would gladly appreciate it! I am trying to bring back some of these old timey things that we seems to have forgotten. I can't believe that right here in North Texas none of my surrounding counties has a fair! I think I need to do something about it ;) Again, if you have any stories, books, recipes, pictures, movie suggestions, etc. I would be very grateful! :)

Have a good weekend!
Adios,
Jessie Lou

Someone gave me a few pieces of doll house furniture recently. I set each piece on a display shelf in my kitchen. (They ere dining room dollhouse stuff). Every time I see them, it makes me want to play... Now I wish I had a doll house!

What a cute piece and you are going to have fun playing and fussing with it I'm sure. Nothing wrong with boys playing with all sorts of things and being around girls too. I think it helps them to become 'gentle'-men and good fathers, just like my brothers, nephews and boys.

Oh, and I finally got the little loom together and hope to try it out this week. For the warp material, is is just fabric the same width as the weaving pieces or did I miss something in the instructions? Thanks.

Pretty!! I want to play! I love little miniature stuff. I never had a doll house, but my little sister had the fisher price A frame house, and I had a version of a Sunshine Family house when I was around 11. It was like a barbie family sort of thing with a floor and four walls. We had to really step in with the imagination and always had fun making furniture, etc. Have fun playing house :)
Blessings,
Susie

We all have little girls inside of us...they never leave, and they come out to play from time to time. Funny,I just blogged about my inner child just a little bit ago :)

Can't wait to see more of what you do with your White House!
