In The Pink--Crepe Myrtle

We're having a heat wave, like so many others this summer, but we also haven't seen rain in weeks. So, I was somewhat surprised this morning as I took my walk around the farm to find these beautiful pink crepe myrtles beside the outhouse (a garden house). They were blooming as if the weather was no problem for them.

Like The White Crepe Myrtle, these bushes were transplanted from Grandmother's--and Mom's-- yard a few years ago.

Aren't they beautiful?

We are hot and dry here also, but for some reason, the Crepe Myrtles have been outstanding.
Love the garden outhouse!

Don't the crepes just thrive with the heat? Thank goodness something does. Hope it cools off for you soon, and you get some rain!!

Those are the best crepe myrtle blooms I've ever seen. I think it must be in honor of your parents anniversary! Also the shabby shed is very cool.

I have never had a crepe myrtle. I will have to check if they can survive zone 3. Just beautiful! Nice tribute to your parents too!

Oh my, what a beautiful crepe myrtle. Ours were especially nice this year but not as pretty as yours. I think it was the nice rain we got in May. So hot now and most blooms are gone. Thanks for sharing yours and love the tribute to your parents wedding anniversary. Married just three years before us.

Your crepe myrtle is amazing. It is bursting out with masses of pink. I've planted one and trying to make it grow like a tree. I'm truly inspired.
